The sole, the point of contact with the earth for humans and what bears the weight of the body as it moves, is chosen in the myth to convey the vulnerability of human nature. Even though their strength, aura or virtue can distinguish “heroes” from everyday people, there is always a moment that reminds us of the undifferentiating essence of human nature. Its affinity with the earth is eternal.
